Just before noon, East Haven Public Safety Dispatch Center got a 911 call from a Walgreens manager who said she got a call from an "unknown number," with a person telling her there was a "bomb was next door" in the bank, according to East Haven police Capt. Joseph M. Murgo.
The caller said, "They should evacuate the building, per Murgo.
The New Haven Police Department Bomb Squad was called to the scene, Murgo said. A "thorough sweep" was done of the bank and two nearby businesses, and "no explosives or anything suspicious was found," he said.
The road was reopened early Monday afternoon, and businesses were given the "all clear" to resume normal activities, Murgo said
