BALTIMORE, MD — Two people accused of carjacking an on-duty Baltimore police detective are in jail. Trevor Gardner, 23, and a 16-year-old male have been charged with armed carjacking, armed robbery, first and second-degree assault and various handgun violations, the Baltimore Police Department said. Around 6:15 p.m., police said an on-duty detective was in the 2800 block of South Hanover Street at a local business when he was carjacked by three-armed suspects. Police said the detective pulled out his gun and fired at the suspects who fled the scene in the detective's car. As the suspects drove over the Hanover Bridge, police said they crashed and overturned. Police provide details on carjacking: They were able to exit from the car; however, police said they were able to quickly arrest them. The detective is uninjured, however, because he discharged his firearm, the department said its special investigations response team from the public integrity bureau will be investigating. Police said they are still looking for a third suspect.
