Here are the top stories in New Orleans today: COVID cases have more than doubled in New Orleans Public Schools since last week. There is a current total of 112 cases including staff and students, with 1/3 of those cases coming from Benjamin Franklin Highschool. (The Lens) An innocent driver was struck during a shooting between two other cars while driving on I-10 Monday afternoon. The driver, a woman whose identity has not been released, was taken to the hospital for treatment. Recent analysis shows that the majority of highway shootings occur on I-10, and are concentrated on the stretch of road across the Industrial Canal near the High Rise Bridge and the portion of I-10 that goes through Treme. (WWLTV.com) The FBI is warning Louisiana parents and children to be ware of an increasing "sextortion" scheme that targets adolescents via social media. Predators have been posing as children on social media and manipulating kids to send sexually explicit content of themselves, then blackmailing them with that content. Be suspicious of anyone you meet over social media and you can contact the FBI if you become or know someone who is a victim of this scheme.
