Morning, New Orleans! Here's everything you need to know to get this Thursday started off right. First, today's weather: Mostly cloudy and humid. High: 88 Low: 76. Here are the top three stories today in New Orleans: NOPD responded to an incident in the Lower Garden District Tuesday night where a child was shot. The victim was taken to the hospital and someone was arrested immediately after from a nearby house, though it is unclear if that arrest is directly related to the shooting. As of Wednesday morning, the shooting investigation is being handled by NOPD's child abuse unit. (NOLA.com) A New Orleans brass band had its equipment stolen just days before a Jazz Fest performance. After a practice session the band stored the instruments inside a van, which then disappeared the next morning. The band, Stooges Brass Band, has found equipment and will still be able to perform but are scrambling to find ways to keep it up for other gigs. (WDSU New Orleans) Bodycam and cellphone footage has emerged of a St. Charles Parish Police Officer striking the sister of a man he was arresting. While arresting her brother on Monday, the officer asked the woman to stay inside her yard while she was recording, the woman approached the police car and the officer attempted to arrest her. The woman ran a short distance away and the officer chased after her and an altercation ensued, which entailed in the officer tackling the woman and punching her twice in the face.
