Job Description: Entry-level Environmental Laboratory Technician career opportunity for a stable and growing environmental testing lab. We provide independent testing reports on water, soil, and food. Excelchem Laboratories, Inc. has an immediate opening for a full-time team member for the position of Laboratory Technician. We are seeking an entry-level candidate to assist chemists and microbiologists to deliver quality test results. We are an EPA (CA ELAP) certified lab that tests water, soil, and food for chemical and microbiological compounds. Excelchem Laboratories, Inc. is a privately owned technical service company. We do not test medical or marijuana samples. Duties Include: • Sample preparation and extractions for various test methods. • Microbiological testing of drinking water, wastewater, surface water, and food testing. • General analytical chemistry testing of drinking water, wastewater, and surface water. • Data entry and record keeping. • Sample disposal and dishware cleaning. • Use of LIMS system and general office suite of products (training provided). • Must follow precise procedures using common analytical chemistry and microbiological laboratory equipment following EPA protocols, Standard Methods, and ASTM standards. • Although rare, the possibility for weekend microbiology work sometimes does occur. Requirements: • HS Diploma required. 2-year degree in science/chemistry preferred but not required. • Knowledge of Word and Excel required. IT skills would be a plus. • Interest in learning technical aspects of environmental testing and environmental programs. • Ability to handle, lift, and move packages/coolers and samples up to 20-40 lbs. routinely, and can weigh as much as 60 lbs. • Have a strong attention to detail, interest in science, and desire to learn. • Team player and commitment to our core values of Service, Integrity, Sharing, and Improvement. • COVID-19 full vaccination status required.
