Description
RESTON, VA — John Lovaas, who founded the Reston Farmers Market at Lake Anne Village Center 25 years ago, shared some photos with Patch of the market's opening day on Saturday.
One of the people on hand for the opening of the 2022 season was Del. Ken Plum (D-42nd), who has represented Reston in the Virginia House of Delegates for 42 years.
Plum and Reston founder Robert E. Simon were on hand 25 years ago for the opening of the first farmers market at Lake Anne Village. Plum has only missed going to the market about 30 times over those 25 years, according to Lovaas.
This year's market will be open Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, through Dec. 3, in the parking lot of the Lake Anne Village Center at 1609-A Washington Plaza in Reston. The market will be closed on Sept. 24 for the Reston Multicultural Festival.
The Reston Farmers Market will follow the Fairfax County Park Authority guidelines for COVID-19. Customers will not be required to wear a mask, but they are asked to respect others and stay at home if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
