Description

CONCORD, NH — The safety department at Concord's community college said Tuesday a sexual assault was reported to officials. The New Hampshire Technical Institute Campus Safety Department received the report around 2 p.m. The attack occurred on the school's property but specifics about when and where were not released. "At this time, the NHTI Campus Safety Department has received very limited information regarding this report and respects the rights and privacy of the survivor," a school alert stated. "The responsible individual is unidentified and no description is available at this time." Safety officials offered safety reminders for students. These include when out late at night, students should remain with friend groups and look out for each other; alcohol and drugs are often used to perpetrate sexual assault; be alert to people pressuring others to use alcohol or other drugs; some sexual offenders target people by using alcohol as a means to commit a sexual assault; download and use the USafeUS app; when meeting someone from a dating app for the first time, it is best to do so in a public location; travel in well-lit areas; and request a safety escort from the NHTI Campus Safety Department, if needed. Anyone who is information about assaults on campus or who may need help, contact the department at 603-224-3287 or the New Hampshire State Police by calling 911. NHTI's Title IX coordinator can also be reached at 603-271-6484, ext. 4239, for support services. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
