dog in North CarolinaNASSAU COUNTY, NY — The Nassau County SPCA has launched a new hotline to address pet owner's concerns about how the coronavirus could affect their animals. Two cats in New York and a dog in North Carolina have tested positive for COVID-19, creating fears among pet owners that their pets could contract the virus. The new Nassau SPCA hotline will give pet owners the information they need to keep their animals safe. The hotline can be reached by calling 516-843-7722. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. "Pets are part of the family and our goal is to provide assistance wherever we can, in order to keep people and their pets together," said Gary Rogers, president of the Nassau SPCA. "Our team has adapted to the many changes brought on by COVID-19 and are able to safely support and service the pet community." In addition to information about caring for pets, the hotline will also help pet owners find important resources like pet food, medical services, temporary shelter and supplemental care for their animals.
