Florida Reopens 80 State Parks For Limited Recreation

ACROSS FLORIDA — Florida residents may resume fishing, swimming and walking on the beach at about 80 state parks this week. The Department of Environmental Protection has implemented the first phase of reopening Florida state parks. This first phase includes recreational activities only at about 80 parks and trails throughout Florida. However, to ensure the protection of visitors and park staff, the parks will have limited hours (8 a.m. to sunset), capacity and amenities. No sunbathing will be allowed and chairs, coolers and shade tents will be prohibited. Permitted activities include walking, jogging, swimming and fishing. Restrooms and trash cans are available but all other park facilities will remain closed. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers will be on hand to enforce these rules, including social distancing and gathering guidelines.
