NEW YORK, NY — The New York Rangers dominated the game early in the first game of their NHL playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins Tuesday. But the Penguins overcame an early two-goal deficit and won a 4-3 victory in a lengthy three-overtime game.
Evgeni Malkin scored the winning goal. The Penguins now have a 1-0 series lead.
The game featured an incredible relief effort from Penguins goalie Louis Domingue, who entered the game after Casey DeSmith left with a lower body injury. DeSmith was playing because of an injury to Penguins starting goalie Tristan Jarry.
