Description

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — Beaches across Nassau County are open today. But you may not want to go swimming in all of them. Due to the heavy rainfall on Saturday, the Nassau County Department of Health has issued an advisory telling people not to bathe at 18 beaches in the county, mainly on the North Shore. Heavy rainfall can cause elevated bacteria levels in the water, which can make people sick if they go swimming. The advisory is in place until 7 a.m. Monday, unless more rain causes it to be extended.
