Nassau Coronavirus Cases By Community: Spikes Continue All Over

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — The coronavirus continues to spread across Nassau County, and the infection is ramping up as the weather gets colder. The number of new daily cases is now at levels not seen since May. Since the first confirmed case in Nassau County March 5, 57,134 residents have contracted the coronavirus and 2,241 people have died, according to county statistics. Just this month, 6,833 Nassau residents have been confirmed to have the virus, and 25 have died. Cases have been spiking across the county, with hundreds of new infections confirmed every day. There have also been a steady stream of deaths, about one every day, in November. For much of the summer, there were many days in a row without a single death. On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared two Nassau communities — Great Neck and Massapequa Park — as Yellow Zones due to high rates of coronavirus infection.
