Hey, Toledo! Let's get this day started. Here's everything going on today in town. First, today's weather: Sun giving way to clouds. High: 63 Low: 49. Here are the top five stories in Toledo today: Toledo man Aaron Matthew Emch, 46, has been charged with rape and unlawful imprisonment by the Hillsdale County Prosecutor's Office. Emch was on GPS monitoring at the time of the crime as he had been previously charged with similar crimes in Ingham County against the same victim. (The Hillsdale Daily News) Toledo Police have arrested Jadiah Carter, 22, for the April 27 murder of 7-month-old Desire Hughes. (WTVG) The Toledo Police Department will be conducting a "traffic enforcement blitz" beginning May 23 through June 5. The effort will target speeding, seatbelts, and drunk driving to coincide with the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign. (WTOL) This year several efforts are being taken to help save the migrating songbird population in Northwest Ohio. Tall buildings in Toledo will dim their lights to prevent collisions into glass windows and Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial at Put-in-Bay will switch off their lights during peak bird travel times. (WTVG) The University of Toledo Medical Center has been designated a Level II trauma center. The upgrade is the result of efforts by new leadership in UToledo's President's Office and the Save UTMC group. The next job fair will be held at Scott High School on Saturday from 1-4 PM. (WTVG)Several overnight road closures have been scheduled in Toledo to facilitate the transport of "Cold Boxes" from the Lucas County Port to North Star Steel on May 5, 9, 12, 16, and 19. The Ohio Dept. of Transportation and TPD will help the transportation process. (WTVG)The Glass City Metropark and International Park are now connected via footbridge that replaced an old railroad bridge running over Main Street in Toledo. (WNWO NBC 24)A ceremony honoring fallen Toledo Police Officer Brandon M. Stalker will be held today at the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in London, Ohio.
