Description

Press release from the Cass County Government: April 25, 2022 The Cass County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Cass County Road Department and our Cass County Emergency Manager, are urging the motoring public to travel with caution on our rural roadways. Numerous township roads have water over the top of them and most gravel roads are proving difficult to travel down due to saturated soils and the thaw cycle. Roadways that are directly impacted by water at of the time of this report: County Road 16 / 138th Ave SE County Road 32 / 146th Ave SE County Road 6 / 150th Ave SE County Road 1 / 23rd St SE County Road 1 / 17th St SE County Road 15 / 164th Ave SE (this is the designated by-pass for CR 15 – no travel west of intersection) As the moisture content continues to rise, we anticipate problematic areas to continue to increase. Please exercise extreme caution while traveling atop any rural roadway, especially those that are not black top. As the water level in the ditches continue to rise, so does the growing concern if a vehicle was to lose control on a gravel roadway and slide into the ditch. As of the time of this report, there are no reported concerns atop black top surfaces. Further communication will be provided by Cass County Government should the need arise.
