Guitar/ bass, some keys/vox

Description

I'm 52 yo, influenced by psychedelic rock old AND new, classic prog and jazz/rock fusion, also post punk, new wave, no wave and the many types of alternative music. I like to explore and challenge myself somewhat with complex rhythms, but my lack of academic knowledge and my awareness of my limitations keeps the music accessible for listening. I don't try to make music sound "technical"- it should sound natural. But I've had my fill of terminally white players who only grasp 4/4. I'm looking for: - a psych/space-rock/alternative rock/indie band who needs guitar/keys or bass - a lyricist who's not primarily influenced by mass-market pop culture - a rhythm section open to instrumentals or basic rock formats to make our own unique sounding music -people willing to get together regularly to workshop riffs and have fun building songs, motifs, jams and recording them (every time I suggest this, "blues-rock dads and grand dads" respond. Please stop) - maybe just a drummer who can count, or wants to work on beat variations with someone Goals: Writing and recording fun, INTERESTING music is THE goal. Performing is something you do when you're proud of the music you have to offer. I'm not driven to play "rock-star dad" on the amateur circuit, but inevitably, the goal of playing out is what many need to drive themselves to make the music, and I understand that. I have a day job. I have wheels and I live in a quiet suburb just north of Boston. I DO have a basement space. It's not ideal, but it's equipped with a PA, amps and drums. It's available to mature, vaccinated, non-smoking, non-derelicts who can find time around the typical family hours in this bedroom community. I'm quite familiar with Brighton's rehearsal spots, Framingham's, Malden's SUM, Lowell/Chelmsford's spaces and the Jam spots as well. I'm NOT interested in - - people who don't live in this century, culturally/musically - people who do hard drugs or generally don't have their life in order - people who are going to respond without telling me where they live, what they can offer musically, what their musical goals are - people who think using formulas/ templates to make audiences happy is a necessary recipe for writing music - bands focused on covers, metal, country, pop/top 40 sounds, bro rock, screamo, religious, traditional blues, 3 chord folk or any acoustic driven music. If you can understand that leaves a LOT of quality electric based music on the table, get in touch. (and I'm aware the pic references are not from this century. Not really a pic collector of youngin's) We'll talk about where to meet to play, weeknights/ weekends....once/week? Twice?
