Bring your broken items and volunteers will help you learn how to repair your belongings; attend demos to learn more skills! Free and open to OSU and the public. May 11th, from 4-6PM in the SEC Plaza. WHY ATTEND A REPAIR FAIR? 1. Save Money: Score free repairs so you don’t have to buy more stuff. 2. Gain Skills: Connect with others to learn new skills or share your own. 3. Reduce Waste: Save your beloved belongings and conserve natural resources. BRING YOUR BROKEN: - Appliances/Electronics - Small Furniture - Bicycles - Clothing - Computers - Musical Instruments Sign Up to be a Repair Volunteer by visiting the Oregon State Recycling Waste Watchers website. (Note: We don’t have spare parts, but will do our best to repair what we can and/or refer you to where you could find the parts you need. If you have parts already, we may be able to help you install them.) VISIT BOOTHS: Demonstrations will be drop-in style - come by during the event for a hands-on demo. Demonstrations will include: No-Sew Tee-Shirt Transformations: 4-5PM -Bring your old t-shirts and give them a new life! Whether you want a new cut, a tote bag, or a pillow cover, you can learn how to do it at this demo! -Don't have a t-shirt? Buy one from the used clothing sale! DARN IT! Sock and Jean Darning: 5-6PM - Bring your holey socks and jeans to be prepared through the technique of darning (the use of embroidery thread to mend worn out or missing fabric) Pop-Up Used Clothing Sale hosted by Greeks Go Green: 4-6PM - Buy clothing donated by OSU students - Proceeds go to Jackson Street Youth Shelter DIRECTIONS: The Student Experience is at 2251 SW Jefferson Way, Corvallis, OR 97331, between the Memorial Union and Valley Library; the SEC Plaza is the outdoor, covered area between the SEC and MU. PARKING/DROP-OFF: - Covered bike parking is available just north of the SEC Plaza. - For vehicles, large items may be dropped off before you park. The check-in booth will hold your item until you are able to return. Drop-off location: 2501 SW Jefferson Way, Corvallis, OR 97331. - Limited, metered vehicle parking can be found on Jefferson Way for $2 an hour, free after 5pm. -The parking garage found on 661 SW 26th St, across from Gill Colosseum, offers metered $1-2 hourly rates or $4-6 for a daily pass. -Street parking outside of campus may also be available. CITY & CAMPUS TRANSIT: - City routes 3 and 8 stop at 26th and Jefferson. For more routes and info, go to the Corvallis Gov's CTS site. - The Beaver Bus's East Route stops directly in front of the event as well as near the parking garage. Schedules and route maps are located on the OSU transportation site under "Beaver Bus Schedules". - There is a bike rack with room for one or two adult-sized bikes on every city bike. On every bus, there are also ramps or lifts that can lower to curb height, and each bus has a reader board and verbally announced stops.
