Description
This position will be responsible for performing landscaping tasks and general care for the RMCAD grounds. These tasks would include, but not be limited to mowing, pruning, bed prep, flower gardens, event set up, and general facility maintenance. During the winter he/she would also perform snow removal of the parking areas and driveways. Essential Duties and responsibilities Planting and maintenance of the lawns, shrubs, trees and other landscape beds. Install and maintain sprinkler systems, makes minor repairs and reports major problems to Head Grounds Keeper. Control weed growth. Pick up rubbish and litter. Does general grounds cleaning, sweeps or blow sidewalks and keep drainage areas clear of debris. Perform snow removal from the RMCAD parking lots and driveways. Help the team set up and breakdown events. Load and unload trucks Maintains equipment and tools in good and safe working order. Perform other duties as needed. Competency Must be reliable and able to perform routine tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to read and follow instructions as well and understanding multi-step instructions. Controlling machines and processes. Using controls or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes. Performing general physical activities that include using your arms, legs, and whole body. Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment. Servicing, repairing, adjusting and testing. Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards. Uses information and judgment to determine whether actions will comply with laws, standards, or regulations. Ability to schedule and carry out work activities. Ability to work as a part of a team in a variety of circumstances. Properly dispose of trash or waste materials. Basic computer skills. Qualifications RMCAD is a sustainable campus. Preference will be given to candidates who have knowledge and experience with environmentally friendly gardening practices. 2 to 3 years’ experience in landscape maintenance required. Education High school or equivalent education helpful. Any certification associated with Gardening, landscaping or horticulture prefer Working Environment and Conditions The noise level in the work environment can be loud enough that personal protective equipment should be worn. Some exposure to temperature extremes. Can be wet and/or humid. Possible mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
