Calling all green thumbs, gearheads, and landscape artists! Our public parks and buildings are well-loved and we’re looking for some help to keep them well-maintained. The City of Sammamish is recruiting for both seasonal and permanent maintenance workers. Seasonal Maintenance Workers We're hiring eight (8) team members to join us this season. This role is expected to begin anytime and will extend through the summer season. This is a journey level position with work dipping in carpentry, plumbing, electric, and construction. To apply and learn more, please visit: What will my day as a Seasonal Maintenance Worker look like? Our Facilities team is small and mighty! The maintenance team is responsive and flexible to urgent needs including preparation for inclement weather. • Perform routine tasks such as weeding, raking, watering, hand mowing, edging, shoveling, litter pick-up, cleaning and repairing trails, ponds, streets, and maintaining public facilities. • Assist your coworkers with the above activities. • You might use tools including push mowers, light-duty trucks, power edger, backpack & hand-held blowers and string trimmers, shovels, rakes, etc. If you know or can do some or all the following, we’d love to hear from you! • General principles of landscape & facility maintenance. • Safely operate light-duty trucks, hand mowers, and a variety of hand tools used in maintenance. • Lift up to 50 pounds and perform a variety of physical tasks and heavy labor. • Get along with others and work as a member of a team. • Identify work hazards and practice general safety procedures. • Interact with the public in an effective, customer friendly manner. • Communicate information effectively verbally and in writing. • Understand and follow oral and written instructions. • Work independently without direct supervision in the field. Do you meet the minimum requirements? • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent required. • Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. • Ability and interest in outdoor maintenance work in all types of weather. • Experience in maintenance or other related work preferred.
