Wellesley Schools Return To Hybrid Class, 1 Upham Class Remote

WELLESLEY, MA — As Wellesley students return to the hybrid learning model after the Thanksgiving break, all but one Upham Elementary School class will return to classes. Since Thursday, the district recorded nine new COVID-19 cases. Two of the cases were at Wellesley High School, two cases were at Wellesley Middle School, three cases at Upham Elementary School, one case at Schofield Elementary School and one case at Sprague Elementary School. The three cases in Upham Elementary school were all reported from the same class. Officials said the class will be remote until Dec. 8. All remaining district staff and WMS students will be tested this week on Tuesday and Wednesday, following the district's adjusted weekly testing cycle. According to Wellesley Public Schools' COVID-19 case tracker, between Nov. 18 and Dec. 1 the district recorded 21 positive COVID-19 cases. Over the entire school year, the district recorded 42 COVID-19 cases so far. In an attempt to limit any more potential spread, school and town officials are urging residents to complete the Massachusetts travel form if they traveled out of state for the holidays and quarantine for 14 days or have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arriving. "If you or someone in your household is symptomatic, please do not send your student(s) to school until you have been tested and/or have quarantined," the district said in a statement, "Remember, we are all in this together!"
