Wellesley To Vote In December On Middle School Debt Exclusion

WELLESLEY, MA — The national election may be over but Wellesley voters have another ballot coming their way in December. The town is hosting a Special Election on Dec. 1 to consider a debt exclusion to fund construction costs for the Middle School Building Systems. Mail-in ballots are being sent to all residents who requested them. The Permanent Building Committee estimated the cost of the project at more than $12.7 million. The project is meant to extend the life of the town's middle school. The entire ballot question reads: "Shall the Town of Wellesley be allowed to exempt from the provisions of proposition two and one-half, so-called, the amounts required to pay for the bonds issued in order to provide construction funds, architectural and engineering services, construction administration, project management, and any associated costs related to the novation of the Middle School Building Systems located at 50 Kingsbury Street to accommodate the classroom and/or administrative needs of the School Department and/or other educational needs of the Town, and for any other services in connection therewith?"
