WELLESLEY, MA — A Wellesley dog is recovering after it was rescued from the icy Charles River water in Wellesley on Tuesday.
Popeye the pup has Wellesley and Dover first responders to thank for his rescue. Wellesley firefighters received a call about a dog in need of an ice rescue early on Tuesday afternoon and made their way out into the cold water to bring him in.
Wellesley crews worked with Dover Fire and Police at Elm Bank.
Popeye was taken to a local animal hospital to recover but is expected to be okay.
