Learn from experts about pollinators and how to grow and manage small and large-scale habitat on this fun and educational tour! Pollinators provide essential ecological services that benefit humans, plants, and animals. On this fun and educational tour we'll visit Woodland Dunes, Van der Brohe Arboretum, and a farm near Kellnersville with 7.6 acres of pollinator habitat in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) . Explore the sites, sample a 3-course meal from Harmony Cafe featuring ingredients that rely on pollination, and learn from experts how to grow and manage small, residential gardens & large-scale habitat that support pollinators. Each participant will receive native plant guides, native wildflower seeds, and information about local organizations offering technical and financial assistance. Plus, we'll have plenty of prizes to win on the bus ride. This event is made possible by: Manitowoc County Soil and Water Conservation Department, Woodland Dunes, Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership, US Fish and Wildlife, NRCS, Van der Brohe Arboretum, Harmony Cafe, and participating Family Farm. What to Expect: Start at Woodland Dunes Nature Center & Preserve 5:00-5:30 Registration, Social and appetizers from Harmony Cafe featuring ingredients that rely on pollination 5:30pm Program Begins with a short presentation from Jim Knickelbine, Woodland Dunes Director and Kennedy Zittel, Assistant Naturalist, and Lara Fondow and Jade Arneson, Biologists with US Fish & Wildlife, then we'll head out to explore the restoration area. 6:20pm Board the Bus and Drive to our next location. Resources Available from US Fish & Wildlife & Win Prizes along the way! 6:35 - 7:15pm Farm Near Kellnersville with 7.6 acres of pollinator habitat. 2nd Course from Harmony Cafe. Learn about this habitat and what to expect when restoring your own from Matt Rattaczak, Manitowoc County Director NRCS, and the landowner. 7:15 Board Bus and Drive to third Location. Small-Scale Gardens. Simple steps to starting your own small pollinator home garden. 7:30 - 8:15 Van Der Brohe Arboretum. Dessert from Harmony Cafe. Hear about the Arboretum and pollinator meadow. 8:15 Board Bus and Head Back to Woodland Dunes. Win prizes along the way! *** Make sure to BYOBB (Bring Your Own Binoculars and Bug Spray), wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes that could get a little dirty and dress for the weather. ***
