Juneteenth on the AVE will be held on June 18, 12:00 n - 6:00 p.m., on Historic Mt. Vernon Avenue, between 17th and St. Clair Avenue Juneteenth on the AVE will be held on June 18, 12:00 n - 6:00 p.m., on Mt. Vernon Avenue, between 17th and St. Clair Avenue! The event will feature entertainment, vendors and "Taste of Juneteenth," a Black owned food truck festival! Juneteenth on the AVE is a collaborative commemoration hosted by the Columbus Urban League; Maroon Arts Group; Central Ohio African American Chamber of Commerce (COAACC); Ohio History Connection / Poindexter Village Museum; King Arts Complex; and Black, Out and Proud (BOP). Our mission is to commemorate Juneteenth, which dates back to June 19, 1865 and is the oldest known celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth on the AVE is also a celebration of Black resilience and creativity; a showcase for performing and visual artists; and, a vehicle to promote and support Black owned businesses.
