AIA Peconic invites Members, Allied Members, and guests to attend an exclusive architectural discussion and tour of The Church led by founders April Gornick and Eric Fischl and architect Lee Skolnick. The Church is an artist residency, exhibition space, creativity center, and exquisite destination. Built in 1835, relocated once, and built upon during its life as a Methodist worship space, The Church was owned by three private owners with various plans since its 2007 deconsecration. In 2017, Gornick and Fischl purchased the space with plans for an arts organization and decided to preserve the building in its stripped-down state, admiring its rich patina and beauty. Skolnick Architecture+Design Partnership was chosen to assist with the renovation, and everyone’s guiding principle was to establish harmony between the “bones” of the original building while adding clean, modern elements, like the glass elevator. Refreshments will be served. Wine generously provided by Wölffer Estate Vineyard.
