The Agronomy & Grain Operations staff member will assist in and perform a wide range of activities under the direction of the Agronomy Operations Supervisor and the Location Manager to ensure the spring fertilizer and fall harvest seasons run smoothly. Traditionally this includes spraying/spreading/driving in the spring and grain handling operations in the fall. This staff member will also assist with operational activities to keep the chemical building, fertilizer buildings, and grain bins operating. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: • Assist in operational day to day tasks of fertilizing and grain handling. • Assist in loading and unloading of fertilizer, chemicals, and grain. • Loads chemicals and fertilizer products into trucks, in customer vehicles, and in shuttles. • Mix fertilizer or chemicals properly to ensure quality standards and accuracy • Performs basic maintenance on equipment such as oil changes, tire rotations, checking batteries, changing filters, changing fluids, etc. • Operates forklifts, pay loader, and other equipment as needed. • Performs housekeeping functions throughout location. • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures and attend safety meetings. QUALIFICATIONS: • HS Diploma or GED • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record • Agriculture background experience preferred, but not required • Must work seasonal overtime including weekend, and holiday work required, at times • Willingness, ability and interest to obtain CDL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be exposed to moving, mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high noise levels, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals. Position requires lifting weights of sixty (60) pounds or less; bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds; standing for extended period of time; working at elevated heights; working in confined spaces; and working in temperatures ranging from -20 to 100.
