I have found mine and hope to share that with others. My journey to yoga has been somewhat unconventional, but I fully embrace the experience that has led me to find true joy and peace. My years of playing football at The University of Texas left me with significant pain due to a back injury. After many treatments and surgeries, I was drawn to try yoga five years ago and am very glad that I did. Strength gradually returned not only in my body, but mind and soul as well. My life has been changed and I’ve made a shift to share the healing power of yoga to help others as the practice has helped me in so many positive ways. Having graduated from UT, I studied psychology and have experience as a counselor. This allowed me to better understand how meditation and body movement plays a huge role in treating anxiety, depression, lowering blood pressure and is a source for emotional healing. As an athlete, I’ve come to know that yoga isn’t a traditional outlet in sports, but am doing my part to change that notion and share the many ways athletes can benefit from participating. Currently as a high school football, and strength and conditioning coach, I incorporate meditation into student workouts to encourage relaxation and self-reflection. This is one of the many instances where I’m able to connect and interact with people, which I love doing. Since being part of the world of yoga, I’ve learned it is for everyone, even big guys like myself. We’re all made unique, therefore I know the importance of being true to yourself and am sure to bring that to my practice. We all have a story to tell and I hope to be part of yours. Meet Tiffany: I discovered the practice in 2005 as a new school teacher, and my life changed forever. Yoga taught me how to love myself through all aspects of life. I’ve taught yoga in a hallway, swimming pools, a loading dock, gyms, after standardized tests, the park, the beach, and in a traditional yoga studio with a single student and up to 200 students at once. Regardless of location, or how many people are there, relationships and the student experience are what matter. My classes have a fun, creative, heart-centered focus where students are encouraged to laugh and play while challenging themselves. When we have fun, we are able to remain present in the space we are in, and breathe. Since I was a small child I knew two things for sure: I was going to be a teacher, and I wanted to help others. I am so lucky to be able to do both. I absolutely love being a teacher.
