We took an abandoned trailer park and turned it into a pocket park for our community…help us in maintaining and expanding its amenities! In 2016 the Shelton Heights neighborhood worked with the City of Indianapolis to demolish a mobile home park at 3836 Rockville Avenue on the west side of Indianapolis after it was left abandoned by its owner. In 2017, Indy Gateway, a local community and economic development organization, began working with the Shelton Heights Neighborhood to get the land donated by the city for a pocket park.
In September 2017, the Shelton Heights Neighborhood and Indy Gateway Inc. was awarded a Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) Greenspace grant and identified as one of its three greenspace locations in Indianapolis to focus on in 2018. Phase one of the park is almost finished thanks to our many volunteers!
Upon completion of phase one, it is important that we raise funds for future phases of the park and on-going maintenance costs of the park which are the responsibility of the Shelton Heights Park Board through the Shelton Heights Park Fund established and managed by Indy Gateway, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community and economic development organization on the west side of Indianapolis.
Your support of this event will help us with our progress! Thank you!
