CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater police officers arrested a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Philadelphia.
On Sunday, officers were alerted by the police communications center of a license tag reader hit involving a vehicle owned Scott Gonzalez. The communications center discovered there was an arrest warrant issued by the Philadelphia Police Department for homicide in connection with a shooting Nov. 7.
Officers located the vehicle on Clearwater Beach and pulled it over. Gonzalez's girlfriend was driving the car, Gonzalez was in the passenger seat and two children were in the back seat.
Gonzalez provided a false name, date of birth and Social Security number, but officers were able to ascertain his true identity. He was arrested on the homicide warrant and taken to the Pinellas County Jail.
Gonzalez was also charged with providing a false name or identity to law enforcement.
