CLEARWATER, FL — It doesn't take Bill Gates' billions of dollars to demonstrate a simple gesture of generosity. Sometimes all it takes is a pair of shoes and some sweat pants.
At least that's how Clearwater Police Sgt. William Hodgson sees it.
As Florida's temperatures plummeted into the 40s, Hodgson was moved at the sight of a homeless man shivering from the cold.
Without a second thought, Hodgson purchased new shoes, sweat pants and a sweat shirt, and presented them to the homeless resident to warm him through the cold night.
As forecasters predict temperatures to dip to 42 degrees Thursday night, the Clearwater Police is reminding residents to follow Hodgson's example and keep an eye out for those less fortunate.
