Stratford Businesses Cited In Alcohol Compliance Check: Police

STRATFORD, CT — Four Stratford businesses were cited for selling alcohol to minors during a recent compliance check, according to police. Police said another business was cited for selling alcohol without a permit. The Stratford Police Department and staff members from the Connecticut Liquor Control conducted unannounced compliance checks on April 28 at businesses that sell alcoholic beverages. "The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of alcohol to youths under the age of 21," officials wrote in a news release. "Under the direction and supervision of Stratford Police Detectives and Liquor Control Agents, an underage youth entered the establishments and attempted to purchase alcohol." Police said 21 unannounced compliance inspections were conducted and four were found to be in violation of sale of alcohol to a person under 21. The businesses in violation were: Lordship Center Market, 350 Stratford Rd. Lordship Wine and Liquor, 60 Access Rd. 7-11, 3621 Main St. Wines Unlimited, 2336 Broadbridge Ave. M&D Convenience and Deli, 6 Boston Ave., was cited for sale of alcohol without a permit, according to police. Police also noted that the following businesses were found to be in compliance with the law: Stop & Shop, 200 East Main St. Stratford Food Center, 11 Woodend Rd. South Main Package, 1065 Main St. House of Spirits, 564 Honeyspot Rd.
