BRIDGEPORT, CT — The GoFundMe campaign to benefit Dominick Krankall, the 6-year-old Bridgeport boy who his parents say was severely burned by neighborhood bullies, has exceeded $538,000, as a new report by the Daily Mail outlines the torment he suffered before the attack. Dominick has second- and third-degree burns on his face and body, after a tennis ball soaked in gasoline was lit on fire and thrown at him, according to his parents, who claim an 8-year-old neighborhood boy did it. The incident remains under investigation by authorities. That child's family has denied their son's involvement, but in an exclusive report in the Daily Mail, Dominick's family outlines what they said was more than a year of abuse their 6-year-old son suffered at the hands of the older bully, and the bully's 11-year-old brother. Besides the severe burns, Dominick suffered a concussion after being knocked to the ground by the 8-year-old bully, according to Dominick's mother, Maria Rua. "The mother hasn't taken responsibility at all," Rua told the Daily Mail about the mother of the bullies. "She hasn't shown an ounce of pity or compassion. My son almost burned to death and the mother still claims that my son did this to himself. That is impossible." The original goal of the GoFundMe campaign was $50,000, and Kayla Deegan, Dominick's sister and the organizer of the effort, thanked supporters and posted a photo of Dominick with some of his bandages removed. "The prayers have worked," Deegan wrote. "Look at his beautiful face and eyes, We can finally recognize him again." Click here to view the GoFundMe page for Dominick Krankall.
