Small Press Distribution (SPD) is seeking a Warehouse Associate to join our team. Based in Berkeley, SPD is the nation’s only non-profit literary book distributor, with a mission to connect underrepresented literary communities to the marketplace and to each other via book distribution, events, and public advocacy. JOB DESCRIPTION This is full time position that pays $20/hr. and includes benefits (medical, dental, FSA, transportation). Hours are 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. including 1 hour paid lunch and two ten-minute paid breaks. Essential duties of the job may require lifting, carrying, loading and unloading materials of up to 40 pounds and physical activity such as walking, bending, and reaching. This position involves interaction with software programs including USPS Dazzle, UPS Worldship, Elan Book, etc. Familiarity with data entry and cloud-based inventory/shipping systems is considered a plus. Interest in literary community and small press publishing welcome. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES SHIPPING/RECEIVING • Pick or assist in picking all daily orders (including Amazon and wholesale orders) • Pack and ship daily USPS/UPS/FEDEX orders as needed. • Receive new books and restock books as necessary. • Receive and process returned books as necessary. • Reshelving of books as needed. • Crosstrain in all aspects of warehouse shipping/receiving operations. • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse. • Assist with reordering supplies for warehouse and shipping. • Other warehouse duties as may be assigned by Warehouse Coordinators. CUSTOMER SERVICE • Assist Front Office staff in tracking orders and other customer service tasks related to fulfillment and shipping • Customer service tasks as capacity permits.
