Interdisciplinarity: An Approach to Integrative Learning
Students often question the reasons assignments are given and their relevance to real-life situations. This session will describe an approach to integrative learning as a collaborative effort between introductory English and Sociology courses and a freshman seminar. We will explore the process used to develop an integrated game-based learning project, demonstrate how it was supported across the three courses, and reflect on lessons learned from the experience, including pitfalls to avoid. Finally, participants will leave with a resource sheet to help them explore possibilities of implementing a shared integrative assignment within their course.
