Description

Don't limit yourself to just one method...Come and learn the many ways of working with clay! Over 4 weeks, you will be guided through clay-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, working with slabs, wheel-throwing and surface development. By the end of the class, you’ll have a good understanding of basic ceramic studio practices. Demonstrations will occur at the beginning of each session, followed by group exercises, and one-on-one guidance. Students will be able to handle their pieces through the entire ceramic process, starting from a lump of clay all the way through to glazing. Topics include learning how to wedge clay, using the slab roller, centering on the wheel, and creating a wide range of functional forms. Everyone is given creative freedom to develop their own personal aesthetic. The class fee includes clay, all glazing materials, firings, and additional practice hours in the studio. Extra clay is available for purchase as needed. Class is limited to 9 students. Instructor: Caelin McDaniel Ages 13 to adult. Class is limited to 9 students.
