MERRIMACK, NH — A woman from Massachusetts was taken to the hospital after crashing near one of the town's fire stations and driving down the embankment of the Souhegan River on Tuesday. Around 12:15 a.m., fire and rescue teams heard a crashing sound outside the Merrimack Central Fire Station and stepped outside to see what had happened. When they did, they found a motor vehicle had crashed into a telephone pole and then a guardrail. Police were called as firefighters removed the driver, later identified as Kelsey Grondin, 32, of Navillus Road in Tewksbury, MA, from the heavily damaged 2018 Ford. "Grondin sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester for further evaluation," Capt. Kenneth MacLeod of the Merrimack Police Department said. "The crash remains under investigation." MacLeod said the investigation was ongoing, but no charges had been issued at post time. Information will be updated if there are charges, he said.
