Join Jennifer Hart, MA, LPC, E-RYT in the healing art of Kintsugi as we focus on making amends and finding strength in of our imperfections
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breaking with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. Some text refer to the practice as “the art of embracing imperfection”. The broader philosophy of the practice is to explore the concept of embracing human flaws and learning that everything, every experience, every event, every person holds value.
It is a practice that extends over 500 years, and is a reminder to “stay optimistic when things fall apart”. “There is beauty is the incomplete” and “broken pieces can be mended.” The end result of broken pieces is a very unique work of art.
The goal of this workshop is to provide psychoeducation on the art of Kintsugi and provide an experiential exercise to explore distress and recovery, within the framework of creative arts, journaling, reflection, mindfulness, and group discussion. Participants conclude the workshop with a beautiful piece of art they may keep. Participants also conclude with journaling prompts and are encouraged to further process their experience with safe social supports.
Individuals of all backgrounds are welcome to participate in this holistic workshop.
