Police also announced that the driver of the car, an 18-year-old man from Tigard, ran a red light and crashed into the driver's side front door of a Washington County Sheriff's car driven by Deputy Michael Trotter.
Trotter, who is married with a son and has been with the sheriff's office since 2013, remains hospitalized, police said.
The driver remains hospitalized while the surviving passengers have been released from the hospital, police said.
