LISLE, IL — More than 100 drivers were ticketed for distracted driving, speeding and other violations in Lisle during a recent crackdown conducted in April for Distracted Driving Month.
The following citations and arrests were made during the month-long campaign:
60 hands-free driving citations 29 speeding tickets 12 other citations 5 insurance violations 4 arrests for driver's license infractions"We strongly enforce distracted driving laws for one reason – to save lives," Lisle Police Chief Kevin Licko said in a recent news release.
Licko added, "Choose to drive distracted, and you'll have a phone in one hand and a ticket in the other."
The initiative was part of a statewide campaign that included increased patrols throughout April to target drivers using cellphones or engaging in other types of distracted driving. The campaign was funded in part by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
