Description

ELMHURST, IL – A woman who stopped to help a driver on the side of the road last week in Elmhurst turned out to be a victim herself, police said. About 6 p.m. Thursday, the woman pulled her car next to a gray BMW SUV near York Street and Interstate 290, according to a police report. A man approached her and tried to sell jewelry. She paid for a large gold chain and two rings, police said. The woman then drove away, but the man followed her to a parking lot, where he asked for more money, police said. She did not give any more. The suspect left. The crime was listed as theft by deception. The man was described as white, 220 pounds, and wearing a black hat, gray jacket, light blue button-up shirt, black dress pants and black shoes.
