BERKELEY, CA — A suspect was arrested late Saturday night in connection with a gunfire incident at a West Berkeley party, police said. A 28-year-old Richmond woman, was arrested on suspicion of willfully discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, making criminal threats, brandishing a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, as well as several other weapons-related crimes, the Berkeley Police Department said. Officers at around 10:40 p.m. responded to a complaint of a loud party on the 2200 block of Sixth Street, police said. As arriving officers saw a crowd of people leaving the building an officer heard gunfire and saw bystanders pointing out a vehicle fleeing the area, police said. Officers located the suspect vehicle a few blocks away and conducted a high-risk car stop in which both of the vehicle's occupants were detained without further incident, police said. When officers searched the vehicle, they found a loaded handgun discarded just under the passenger-side door.
