TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — Two were arrested in connection with the possession of an illegal ghost gun after a driver led New York State Police on a chase along the Northern State Parkway on Sunday morning, police said. A trooper tried to stop a Nissan Altima for speeding on the Northern State Parkway near New Highway, in the Town of Smithtown, at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, police said. The driver did not stop, and after a short chase, the Nissan entered the on-ramp to the Sunken Meadow Parkway, police said. The driver could not navigate the curve and crashed into the wood line, police said. The driver then ran away, police said. State police and Suffolk police could not find the driver. A loaded 9 mm Polymer 80 Inc., Model PF940C, with no serial number, also referred to as a "ghost gun," was found inside the Nissan, police said. Two passengers in the Nissan, Patrice Gordon, 25, of Selden, and Landre Simmons, 39, of North Babylon, were taken into custody, police said. Gordon and Simmons were each charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a C felony) and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a D felony). They were held for arraignment on Monday at Suffolk County First District Court.
