Description

WATERTOWN, MA — Watertown Middle School started its transition to hybrid learning on Thursday. The middle school is following the elementary school's footsteps in moving to hybrid learning. The district started its transition to hybrid learning after the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education announced an audit into the district to take a closer look at its timeline for reopening. Thursday and Friday mark the start of the district's hybrid plan extending to the middle school. Watertown is one of the first districts in the Commonwealth to provide asymptomatic PCR COVID-19 testing for staff, with an 18-24 hour turnaround time. The district said it is close to finalizing details to provide voluntary student testing beginning as early as next week for Watertown Middle School students, with testing for Watertown High School students and elementary students starting on Nov. 30. Watertown has been in-person with over 300 students in specialized programs since Sept. 22, and the district has been in the hybrid model for elementary students for two weeks.
