WATERTOWN, MA — A food truck program that drove into the Watertown/Belmont area in September is changing things up again, but this time to benefit local parent teacher organizations. Neighborhood StrEATs, a food truck program that brings lunch or dinner to neighborhoods throughout Massachusetts, has launched a cause-related campaign to raise funds for local PTO/PTAs called StrEATs for Schools. Here's how it works: the food trucks park at the schools while the PTOs spread the word to the school community about the cool new place to grab a quick, safe bite to eat. Folks pre-order, the trucks park at the schools, families pick up their pre-ordered meals at a pre-determined time and part of the funds help raise money for PTOs. "This is truly the definition of a win-win-win," says Anne-Marie Aigner, founder of Neighborhood StrEATs, a division of Food Truck Ventures LLC (formerly Food Truck Festivals of America). Neighborhood StrEATs currently operates in towns throughout the Commonwealth including Belmont, Watertown, Waltham, Newton, Plymouth, Quincy, Framingham and more. PTOs in any community are welcome to contact Neighborhood StrEATs at617.484.5151 to set up a StrEATs for Schools fundraising program. "We are so excited to have gotten this off the ground in Belmont first," said Stephanie Crement, who is co-chair of her PTA, "We launched at the Butler Elementary School and had dozens and dozens of orders which helped raise hundreds and hundreds of dollars for the PTO."
