Summer work: Help with remotely operated cars, $20/hr

We’re looking for several people to act as safety drivers and operators for our remote vehicle operation technology during a fixed-duration project this summer in the June/July timeframe. Compensation will be $20/hr + travel. Work will be done on a contract basis with the possibility of moving to full-time at a later date. We have two roles and we expect people may alternate between them: SAFETY OPERATOR: You will be in the driver’s seat of one of our vehicles during remote operation and will have the responsibility to assume control of the vehicle if, for any reason, the remote operation system is unavailable or not operating to specification. Part of this role will involve being outside walking to/from vehicles across parking lots. All operation is currently scheduled to occur in the Moon township area. You will be involved in debriefs about system performance and provide feedback to help improve operation and performance. REMOTE OPERATOR: You will be in our operation center at one of our operator stations. The operator station is a computer outfitted with multiple monitors to provide visuals of the road and surroundings, and outfitted with a steering wheel and pedals for vehicle control. During remote operation, you will be in full control of the vehicle and responsible for driving it from where it is to where it needs to be. During remote operation you will have a direct line of communication to the safety operator in the vehicle. All remote operation will occur in North Side Pittsburgh. You will be involved in debriefs about system performance and provide feedback to help improve operation and performance. Training for both roles will be provided. Exact hours and dates will be determined soon, but we will probably need help three or four days each week during the project, which will run during the June/July timeframe. Each day we might need help any time between 6am and 7pm and could schedule people for blocks of time during that span. ELIGIBILITY: Because the nature of our work involves vehicle safety and operation around the general public, we have strict eligibility requirements for operator roles. These requirements include: * Criminal background check * Driving records check * Minimum age of 25 years * Minimum 5 years of driving experience * Valid driver’s license * Up-to-date and active personal auto insurance * None of the following in the past five years: Major moving violations, vehicular manslaughter, excessive speeding, excessive disregard for red lights/stop signs, reckless driving, driving while suspended, distracted driving, DUI, or more than 2 accidents or moving violations ABOUT US: Mapless AI is bringing the car rental experience into the 21st century with Hitch.
