WALTHAM, MA — AFC Urgent Care is set to hold another large-scale drive-thru testing center for the new coronavirus in the parking lot at the corner of Main Street and Prospect Hill Tuesday. As of Sunday night, 141 residents in Waltham have tested positive and are in isolation for COVID-19, according to the city. If you are showing symptoms of the respiratory illness, you can reach out to the AFC Urgent Care for a telemedicine pre-screening appointment Monday. If one of the AFC providers thinks you meet the standards for the test, they'll write you a note to say as much and set you up with an appointment for Tuesday. At the Urgent Care's first event last month, 350 people were screened via telehealth the day before, 200 people were recommended to get testing and 175 showed up on March 21. "We have over 200 test kits still available for this event," according to AFC Urgent Care President David Adams. "We are trying to reach areas that need us most. Adams said anyone who is exhibiting symptoms should call AFC Urgent care Monday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at 781-430-8161 To avoid spreading any respiratory illness, the CDC recommends staying at home when you are sick, covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue and throwing the tissue in the trash, cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces. The Department of Public Health announced 764 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total to 12,500 across the state Sunday. Officials said 15 new deaths were reported, making the death count 231. The rise in numbers Sunday comes as the number of veterans at two state-run Soldiers' homes rose and a third inmate at a Massachusetts prison facility died. Also Sunday, Gov. Charlie Baker announced the opening of a drive-thru testing Center for first responders at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. In Boston, it was the largest single-day increase in cases, with the mayor issuing a curfew and more strict coronavirus advisory, including asking that anyone leaving their home wear a face covering, saying this week marks the beginning of a surge period.
