EKT Parent Group Facilitator Training Description: Audience: This workshop is intended for individuals facilitating the EKT Parent Group Sessions and other parent engagement components of the Early Kindergarten Transition (EKT) Program. About the Workshop: This in person training will cover some of the best practices for strengths-based group facilitation. Creating a positive space to help parents build relationships with other parents/caregivers is a key part of EKT. Facilitation. Facilitators will learn about strategies that will help bring out the expertise of parents and encourage parents to learn from each other. Participants are encouraged to brainstorm together and share ideas or share past experiences with EKT parent/family engagement. New Curriculum and handouts will be used. The training will be active and model topics that you can use in your EKT Parent Group Sessions to help families be successful in kindergarten. Participants will be compensated for their time by Multnomah County. A W-9 form and invoice form will be given to participants to fill out and complete to receive compensation. You are registering to attend the EKT Parent Group Facilitator Training held on Monday, June 27, 2022 10:00 AM-11:30 AM Lunch Break 12:30 PM-2:00 PM at Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel. Trainer Bio: Aoife Rose Magee, PhD, earned a doctoral degree in Special Education from the University of Oregon Early Intervention Program. Her professional interests have been largely focused on the social-emotional development of young children and how positive parenting and teaching practices may contribute to healthy development, promote resiliency and mediate risk factors. Aoife is an instructor, supervisor, consultant, and professional development specialist for students and practitioners in the areas of Early Childhood Education, Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education and Parenting Education. Aoife is a Master Trainer for the Oregon Registry and frequently provides community based and private workshops for early childhood educators.
