WALTHAM, MA — The former deputy chief of special operations for the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office has been named chief of the Bentley University Police Department. Frank Bourgeois has been acting chief since July after working at the department as a captain since 2018. Bourgeois was a police lieutenant in the Nashua (New Hampshire) Police Department before being appointed deputy chief of special operations for the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office. He then worked in residential safety and housing operations at Northeastern University. He holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Suffolk University and an MBA from Rivier University. "Frank has been instrumental in leading University Police's efforts to keep campus safe and in compliance with COVID-19 policies this fall," Dean of Students Andrew Shepardson said. "He also oversaw the completion of de-escalation and implicit bias training for all of the department's sworn officers as part of University Police's commitment to racial justice, equity and inclusion." Bourgeois will oversee a 30-person department.
