Description
BRANDON, FL — Drivers traveling from southbound Interstate 75 to the Selmon Expressway (State Road 618 - Exit 256) will use a new exit beginning early Tuesday morning, Jan. 28.
The new exit point will be just south of Exit 257 to State Road 60 (about a half mile north of the existing exit), meaning motorists will need to make the decision to exit to the Selmon Expressway sooner.
Once on the exit ramp, drivers should remain alert to traffic entering from westbound SR 60 merging from the right side. After that merge area, drivers will continue south on the frontage ramp lanes and follow the signs to the Selmon Expressway.
This new southbound I-75 exit point replaces the current exit ramp to the Selmon Expressway and is a permanent change to the interchange configuration in this area. Drivers should be extra cautious to the new traffic pattern and remain alert to construction workers in the area.
The Florida Department of Transportation also announced that the portion of the southbound I-75 Exit 261 ramp that goes onto eastbound I-4 may be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights (Jan. 28-30). Traffic will continue south on I-75 and use Exit 260. At the traffic signal, turn left onto State Road 574 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard) and cross over I-75. Take the next left and enter northbound I-75 and then use Exit 261 to I-4. Keep right at the fork on the ramp to go to east on I-4.
