Description

Support the Society's mission to preserve, interpret and educate others about the rich history of Akron and Summit County. "I am part of all that I have met . . ." Alfred Lord Tennyson You are a part of the local history where you were born, grew up, currently live, love to visit or aspire to retire one day. Help the Summit County Historical Society in its mission to preserve its properties, the home of Akron's founding family - the Perkins Stone Mansion; the one-time rented home of the abolitionist John Brown House; and Old Stone School, thousands of three dimensional artifacts and photographs, interpret these structures and materials and educate others about their stories. A membership to the Society assists in these efforts throughout the year with programming in schools, nursing homes and assisted living, civic organizations and on site at the historic properties. Knowing our history guides all of us to remember those who have gone before us - their mistakes, their triumphs, their successes, their failures - to learn and grow together moving forward into the future. Be a part of the big celebration coming up in 2024 for the Society's centennial in anticipation of Akron's bicentennial of 2025. Photo by Bruce S.
