LONG BEACH, NY — A a meeting scheduled for tonight, the Long Beach City Council is set to vote on a proposition to bond $2.7 million to cover new separation payments. These payments are different from the questionable payments made in previous years, when the city overpaid more than $500,000 in separation payments. These are payments for the 2020-21 fiscal year, the city said. The city is bonding the $2.7 million to make payments to 38 former employees, ranging from $1,373 to $215,000. The City Council will be voting on the bond resolution at tonight's meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held virtually, and residents can watch live on the city's YouTube channel. At the meeting, the council will also be voting on a resolution to make City Manager Donna Gayden the city's treasurer. The resolution authorizes her to hold more than one position, but does not say if she will receive a raise in pay.
